US Fabricated Beams Final Imports

U.S. Fabricated Beam Final Imports: Fabricated beam final imports to the U.S. were down 26% m/m in September 2020, and down 3% y/y, coming in at 38,300 tons.

Figure 1 breaks down total fabricated beam imports from January 2019 – September 2020. When looking at the current year, it shows that fabricated beam imports reached their peak last month in August, at 51,924 tons.

Figure 2 also charts the largest exporting countries in rank order through September 2020. Canada was the largest exporter of fabricated beams with 16,720 tons this month. Mexico was the second-largest exporter with 10,028 tons. Germany was the third-largest exporter of fabricated beams to the US with 1,510 tons. Together these three exporters accounted for 74% of total fabricated beam imports.

Figure 3 also charts the largest imports by district of entry to the US in rank order through September. The St. Albans, VT port was the largest receiver of fabricated beams this month, receiving 7,496 tons. Laredo, TX was the second-largest district of entry, coming in at 6,418 tons. Portland, ME was the third-highest receiver with 4,036 tons. Together these three districts of entry accounted for 47% of the total imports.
