U.S. Steel Rebar Final Imports: Rebar final imports to the U.S. came in at 45,613 tons for the month of December 2019. Rebar imports include: concrete reinforcing bars and rods of iron or non-alloy steel, in irregularly wound coils hot-rolled, concrete reinforcing bars and rods of other alloy steel, not further worked than hot-rolled, hot-drawn or extruded, and other bars and rods iron or non-alloy steel, hot-worked, concrete reinforcing bars and rods.

Figure 1 further breaks down total final rebar imports from January 2019 – December 2019. When comparing year to date figures, it shows that beam imports peaked in May 2019 with 148,848 tons of imports reported.

Figure 2 charts the largest exporting countries to the US in rank order through December 2019. Spain was the largest exporter of rebar with 19,476 tons in December 2019. Mexico was the second largest exporter with 19,303 tons. Canada was the third largest rebar exporter to the US with 4,772. Together these three exporters accounted for 95.5% of the total.

Figure 3 charts the largest imports by district entry to the US in rank order through December 2019. Houston/Galveston, TX port was the largest receiver of U.S. rebar in December 2019, receiving 19,583 tons. San Diego, CA port was the second largest receiver coming in at 9,236 tons. Laredo, TX was the third largest receiver coming in at 7,174 tons.
