US Beam Final Imports

U.S. Steel Beam Final Imports: Beam final imports came in at 20,032 tons for July 2020, up significantly since June. These include: Angles, Shapes and H Sections, Angles, Shapes and I Sections, Angles H Sections Iron and Non-Alloy Steel Hot-rolled, and Other H Sections.

Figure 1 further breaks down total beam final imports from January 2019 – July 2020. When looking at the current year, it shows that beam imports peaked in February 2020 with 40,308 tons of imports reported.

Figure 2 also charts the largest exporting countries to the US through July 2020. South Korea was the largest exporter of beams with 16,549 tons in July; Mexico was the second-largest exporter with 2,549 tons. Canada was the third-largest beams exporter to the US with 536 tons. Together these three exporters accounted for 98% of the total.

Figure 3 also charts the largest imports by district of entry to the US. The Los Angeles, CA port was the largest receiver of beams in July, receiving 6,470 tons of the total 20,032. Columbia-Snake, OR was the second-largest receiver coming in at 4,187 tons. Houston-Galveston, TX was the third-largest receiver coming in at 3,976 tons. Together, these top three receiving ports collected 73% of all U.S. beam imports.
