US Fabricated Beams Final Imports

U.S. Fabricated Beam Final Imports: Fabricated beam final imports to the U.S. were down 3.3% MoM in May, and down 13% YoY, coming in at 29,340 tons.

Figure 1 breaks down total fabricated beam final imports from January 2019 – May 2020. When looking at the current year, it shows that fabricated beam imports reached their peak in March 2020 at 39,559 tons.

Figure 2 also charts the largest exporting countries in rank order for February 2019 – May 2020. Mexico was the largest exporter of fabricated beams with 9,474 tons in May. Canada was the second-largest exporter 9,277 with tons. China was the third-largest exporter of fabricated beams to the US with 2,319 tons. Together these three exporters accounted for 53% of total fabricated beam imports.

Figure 3 also charts the largest imports by district of entry to the US in rank order through May 2020. The Laredo, TX port was the largest receiver of fabricated beams in May 2020, receiving 6,170 tons. St. Albans, VT was the second-largest district of entry, coming in at 3,979 tons. Detroit, MI was the third-highest receiver with 2,722 tons. Together these three districts of entry accounted for 33% of the total imports.
