US Rebar Final Imports

U.S. Steel Rebar Final Imports: Rebar final imports to the U.S. came in at 125,199 tons for the month of July 2020, up 61% m/m. Rebar imports include: concrete reinforcing bars and rods of iron or non-alloy steel, irregularly wound coils hot-rolled, concrete reinforcing bars and rods of other alloy steel, not further worked than hot-rolled, hot-drawn or extruded, and other bars and rods of iron or non-alloy steel, hot-worked, concrete reinforcing bars and rods.

Figure 1 further breaks down total rebar final imports through July 2020. When looking at the current year, it shows that rebar imports peaked in May 2020 at 126,256 tons.

Figure 2 charts the largest exporting countries to the U.S. in rank order through July. Turkey was the largest exporter of rebar with 47,311 tons this month. Mexico was the second-largest exporter with 28,087 tons. Spain was the third-largest rebar exporter to the U.S. with 16,664 tons. Together these three exporters accounted for 74% of the total.

Figure 3 charts the largest imports by district of entry to the U.S. in rank order through July 2020. The Houston-Galveston, TX port was the largest receiver of rebar in July, receiving 55,465 tons (44%). Laredo, TX was the second-largest receiver coming in at 15,376 tons. San Juan, PR was the third-largest receiving port with 14,735 tons.
