U.S. Steel Beam Final Imports

U.S. Steel Beam Final Imports: Final beam imports to the U.S. came in at 39,122 tons for July 2021, up 42% since last month. These include: Angles, Shapes and H Sections, Angles, Shapes and I Sections, Iron and Non-Alloy Steel Hot-rolled, and Other H Sections.

Figure 1 further breaks down total beam final imports from January 2019 – July 2021. When looking at the current year, it shows that beam imports reached their peak this month.

Figure 2 also charts the largest exporting countries to the U.S. through July 2021. South Korea was the largest exporter of beams with 17,859 tons this month (46%). The UAE was the second-largest exporter with 6,989 tons. Luxembourg was the third-largest beams exporter to the U.S. with 6,353 tons. Together these three exporters accounted for 78% of the total.

Figure 3 also charts the largest imports by district of entry to the U.S. The Houston-Galveston, TX port was the largest receiver of beams this month, receiving 7,122 tons. Boston, MA was the second-largest receiver coming in at 6,970 tons. Columbia-Snake, OR was the third-largest receiver coming in at 5,187 tons. Together, these top three receiving ports collected 49% of all U.S. beam imports.
