U.S. Steel Beam Final Imports

U.S. Steel Beam Final Imports: Final beam imports to the U.S. came in at 38,840 tons for November 2021, up 167% since last month. These include: Angles, Shapes and H Sections, Angles, Shapes and I Sections, Iron and Non-Alloy Steel Hot-rolled, and Other H Sections.

Figure 1 further breaks down total beam final imports from January 2019 – November 2021. When looking at the current year, it shows that beam imports reached their peak in July at 39,122 tons, though November doesn’t fall far behind.

Figure 2 charts the largest exporting countries to the U.S. through November 2021. The UAE was the largest exporter of beams with 9,953 tons this month (26%). South Korea was the second-largest exporter with 9,552 tons. Luxembourg was a close third with 9,505 tons. Together these three exporters accounted for 75% of the total.

Figure 3 also charts the largest imports by district of entry to the U.S. The Los Angeles, CA port was the largest receiver of beams this month, receiving 8,139 tons. Boston, MA was the second-largest receiver coming in at 6,331 tons. Philadelphia, PA was the third-largest receiver coming in at 5,839 tons. Together, these top three receiving ports collected 52% of all U.S. beam imports.
