U.S. Steel Beam Final Imports
U.S. Steel Beam Final Imports: Final beam imports to the U.S. came in at 29,642 tons for February 2022, up 36% since last month. These include: Angles, Shapes and H Sections, Angles, Shapes and I Sections, Iron and Non-Alloy Steel Hot-rolled, and Other H Sections.
Figure 1 further breaks down total beam final imports from January 2019 – February 2022.
Figure 2 charts the largest exporting countries to the U.S. through February 2022. South Korea was the largest exporter of beams with 10,331 tons this month (35%). Mexico was the second-largest exporter with 7,397 tons. The UAE was a close third with 6,234 tons. Together these three exporters accounted for 81% of the total.
Figure 3 also charts the largest imports by district of entry to the U.S. The Houston-Galveston, TX port was the largest receiver of beams this month, receiving 11,717 tons. Laredo, TX was the second-largest receiver coming in at 5,040 tons. Boston, MA was the third-largest receiver coming in at 3,745 tons. Together, these top three receiving ports collected 69% of all U.S. beam imports.
