U.S. Steel Beam Final Imports

U.S. Steel Beam Final Imports: Final beam imports to the U.S. came in at 24,028 tons for November 2022, down 59% since last month. These include: Angles, Shapes and H Sections, Angles, Shapes and I Sections, Iron and Non-Alloy Steel Hot-rolled, and Other H Sections.

Figure 1 further breaks down total beam final imports from January 2019 – November 2022.When looking at the current year, it shows that beam imports reached their peak in October with 59,182 tons.

Figure 2 charts the largest exporting countries to the U.S. through November 2022. South Korea was the largest exporter of beams with 12,987 tons this month (54%). Luxembourg was the second-largest exporter with 4,840 tons. Canada was a close third with 2,787 tons. Together these three exporters accounted for 86% of the total.

Figure 3 also charts the largest imports by district of entry to the U.S. The Columbia-Snake, OR port was the largest receiver of beams this month, receiving 11,522 tons. Houston-Galveston, TX was the second-largest receiver coming in at 2,586 tons. Philadelphia, PA was the third-largest receiver coming in at 2,423 tons. Together, these top three receiving ports collected 69% of all U.S. beam imports.
