U.S. Steel Beam Final Imports

U.S. Steel Beam Final Imports: Final beam imports to the U.S. came in at 32,275 tons for January 2024, down 18% since last month. These include: Angles, Shapes and H Sections, Angles, Shapes and I Sections, Iron and Non-Alloy Steel Hot-rolled, and Other H Sections.

Figure 1 further breaks down total beam final imports from January 2022 – January 2024.

Figure 2 charts the largest exporting countries to the U.S. through January 2024. Spain was the largest exporter of beams with 10,756 tons this month (33%). Luxembourg was the second-largest exporter with 8,721 tons. Germany was third with 6,208 tons. Together these three exporters accounted for 80% of the total.

Figure 3 also charts the largest imports by district of entry to the U.S. The Mobile, AL port was the largest receiver of beams this month, receiving 7,019 tons. Houston-Galveston, TX was the second-largest receiver coming in at 5,430 tons. Philadelphia, PA was the third-largest receiver coming in at 4,401 tons. Together, these top three receiving ports collected 52% of all U.S. beam imports.
