U.S. Steel Beam Final Imports

U.S. Steel Beam Final Imports: Final beam imports to the U.S. came in at 48,005 tons for February 2024, up 48% since last month. These include: Angles, Shapes and H Sections, Angles, Shapes and I Sections, Iron and Non-Alloy Steel Hot-rolled, and Other H Sections.

Figure 1 further breaks down total beam final imports from January 2022 – February 2024.

Figure 2 charts the largest exporting countries to the U.S. through February 2024. South Korea was the largest exporter of beams with 19,014 tons this month (40%). United Arab Emirates (UAE) was the second-largest exporter with 12,428 tons. Luxembourg was third with 8,600 tons. Together these three exporters accounted for 83% of the total.

Figure 3 also charts the largest imports by district of entry to the U.S. The Houston-Galveston, TX port was the largest receiver of beams this month, receiving 22,658 tons. Los Angeles, CA was the second-largest receiver coming in at 5,705 tons. Philadelphia, PA was the third-largest receiver coming in at 4,786 tons. Together, these top three receiving ports collected 69% of all U.S. beam imports.
