U.S. Steel Beam Final Imports: Final beam imports to the U.S. came in at 84,359 tons for July 2024, up 132% since last month. These include: Angles, Shapes and H Sections, Angles, Shapes and I Sections, Iron and Non-Alloy Steel Hot-rolled, and Other H Sections.

Figure 1 further breaks down total beam final imports from January 2016 – July 2024.

Figure 2 charts the largest exporting countries to the U.S. through July 2024. Spain was the largest exporter of beams with 24,779 tons this month (29%). United Arab Emirates was the second-largest exporter with 12,316 tons. South Korea was third with 11,961 tons. Together these three exporters accounted for 58% of the total.

Figure 3 also charts the largest imports by district of entry to the U.S. The Houston-Galveston, TX port was the largest receiver of beams this month, receiving 30,422 tons. Philadelphia, PA was the second-largest receiver coming in at 18,540 tons. Boston, MA was the third-largest receiver coming in at 9,373 tons. Together, these top three receiving ports collected 69% of all U.S. beam imports.
